About Us
Fredericksburg Virginia Main Street (FVMS) is 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to Preserve Fredericksburg’s historic fabric and rich cultural history while encouraging a thriving economic future. FVMS is a chapter of the National Main Street Program, an initiative originated by the National Trust for Historic Preservation that focuses on the revitalization of traditional downtowns to enhance the appearance and economic stability of the commercial district, and to improve community pride and quality of life for residents and visitors.
The program has been adopted in 44 states and more than 1,650 communities across the country. Fredericksburg VA Main Street Inc. (FVMS) is affiliated with the Virginia Main Street Center. It assists Virginia communities in developing their own self-help revitalization programs. Through the efforts of a group of local volunteers, Fredericksburg was selected in June of 2013 as one of two Main Street Virginia communities, qualifying it for a three year package of training and technical assistance. Designated communities pay for their own operating expenses and community projects.
